Create a New Origin
Your e-mail address must be verified to create an origin.
What is an Origin?
(image) diagram user -> edge cache -> tier-1 cache -> origin service The Origin is where you (our customer) host your application or website. This might be a third-party hosting provider, serverless platform, or an old laptop sitting in the garage. We are compatible with any HTTP traffic.
- On the sidebar, select "Origins" and you'll see a table: (image) origins-all
Select "Add Origin" to create a new one.
- Select a Hosting Provider In the dropdown box, we have configured options to more easily and quickly integrate with your favorite hosting providers. If your provider is listed, select that to ensure optimal performance. Otherwise, any old HTTP endpoint will do.

- Add your endpoint
Formatting We accept a number of different formats for your origin endpoint. Hostnames, IP addresses, and custom ports are allowed. By default, we use port 443 for HTTPS.
These are all valid: varnish1.anton.piedpiper.net:8900 hitch1.anton.piedpiper.net 212.104.141.167:69420
Administrative Name Doesn't affect functionality, just a useful way to remember which is which.
Domain is not allowed due to security restrictions This error occurs when the domain being added is perceived as being high-traffic or related to industries requiring strict auditing and compliance. Contact support for options.
Once you've added the origin, it will be selected by default for your site.
You can edit Origin TLS settings on the Security (opens in a new tab) page.
