Technical FAQ
Q: What kind of data do you log?
A: We log the IP address and HTTP headers for all requests (except for sensitive headers) for thirty days. We log HTTP headers for all requests (except sensitive headers) with the IP addresses redacted indefinitely. For more information about what specific information is logged, see Logging (opens in a new tab).
Q: What software is used under-the-hood?
A: Caddy Web Server (opens in a new tab) is the powerhouse reverse proxy and web server that we run on every server on our network to handle all web traffic. We also run several open source Caddy modules, such as the Coraza WAF, S3 Storage module, and Image proxy, to name a few. All edge servers run FreeBSD as the operating system.
Q: Why don't you use Anycast?
A: We do for DNS, just not for content delivery. The reason is that a properly deployed Anycast network for high-bandwidth content costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, requires that you already have lots of traffic to move, and is not actually necessary to deliver content quickly.
Q: When will you support (X) technology or integration?
A: We are constantly working on adding new integrations to our platform and fixing bugs wherever we can. Check the feedback website (opens in a new tab) to see if it's already in progress or make a new suggestion.
